Parks & Recreation Minutes

May 8^th, 2007

6:30 p.m.

Members present: Ken Kendall, Harry Withrow, Ed Rapin, Kathy Quigley-Jewel, Kitty Wagner & Samantha Hoffman

Members Absent: Debra Brousseau & Kevin Bater

Meeting called to order by Park Manager Harry Withrow at 6:30 p.m.

Meeting was turned over to Samantha Hoffman.

Harry stated playground equipment is mostly assembled. He said he is having some volunteer help with assembly. Anyone can stop in to see if Harry is available.

Playground equipment that was painted last summer does need some touch up.

Ed will donate iris plants to the park once they are able to transport. People are needed to help plant them.

Todd Klanke will donate a few flats of flowers which will require volunteers to plant. He will also donate some perennials.

Horse shoe area-second one will be set up when need arrives. A bench will be permanently installed later.

Ceilings in pavilion are dark. If we can get enough man power to paint two ceilings, possibly prison labor. Do any time. We will let Rick Renard know when we are ready.

Upcoming events to be advertised in newspaper, flyers and website. We need volunteers to pass out flyers for Texas Hold-Em. Signs for Texas Hold-Em are done.

String bracelets turned out to be more expensive that first though. Kathy has ordered a 100. Board thinks 100 is enough.

Bags will need more discussion.

Crafters- one had registered so far.

Car Show-50 cars from Stansley/Chip Tokar. Lee Coffey has 13 (?) cars coming.

Ken will contact Antique Tractor Club. Possibly 8-10 tractors.

Music: Larry Ganun-Harry Hutchison-Bev Craig and Ed Rapin knows of another group.

Fire Department: burn house, jaws demo and car fire demo

Kelly Inflatable: Debra will talk with Mike Wilson

Events for the Day: 4-H groups, Cabellas bring in stuffed animals & misc.

Underwriters-Chip Tokar will pay half and Baker Construction will pay half of $600.

Park Board feels the need for four port a johns. Harry will contact Richard at Lenawee Sanitation.

Discussion on “Events Board” to be mounted on north side of south office/shelter.

We will do something for Bill Osborn for his dedication to the parks for his years of service.

Next Park meeting will June 4^th at 6:30pm at the RCC
