Board Meeting

May 18, 2009

 

CALL TO ORDER:  Meeting was called to order by chairperson Kathy Jewell Quigley at 6:30 pm with 4 persons in attendance. – Kathy Jewell Quigley, Debra Brousseau, Kenneth Kendall and Francis Lawhead.

 

            Absent were:  Kitty Wagner, Scott Blevins and Carol Breckel

 

MINUTES: Minutes from the previous meeting were approved with the following change to be made. “The cost for Kelly’s Inflatable’s should read $ 650.00”

 

NEW BUSINESS:       Day in the park adjustments are as follows:

 

(a)        There will be (4) clowns

(b)        Kelly’s will have (2) tents

(c)        Lenawee Sanitation’s donation includes the tent

(d)        Contracts were signed with the petting zoo

(e)        More trophies are needed for the car show (We have five (5) already donated

(f)         The silent auction donations can be dropped off at the Township Office. We would like to have the cut off date for these items to be no later than the 2nd week of August

(g)        Steve Hazzard from Clinton Ford Lincoln Mercury will assist with the radio announcements / Advertising with the Lenawee Chamber if we contact him early enough.       

(h)        Dan’s Tractor Supply and Bader and Sons John Deere will bring three (3) to four (4) items to display and will be counted as vendors.

 

The total cost of this years Day in the Park Festival as of 08-18-09 is    $2,850.00

The total revenues for this years Day in the Park Festival to date is:                    $1,250.00

 

Do we need to have an opening ceremony?

Previously we have honored someone special.

How about Bill Osborne for his long dedication of service to the park and community?

 

More donations are needed.

Will we want to do them as part of the silent auction or do we want to present them as door prizes?

Ralph Tillotson will be donating farm produce

Day in the park adjustments are as follows (Cont)

 

Kathy will contact Tecumseh High school

Manpower will be an issue as we can only use those person who are 16 and over for volunteers.

Two (2) Car Show judges are needed – one (1) female and one (1).

Debra wants 2 people assigned to each area to assist with setup and tear down.

Hospitality tent will be placed near stage / the clowns will use ½ of the space.

What about a 50/50 raffle?

 

Arts and Crafts, Inc – they use recyclable items to make their crafts. The cost for them is $300.00. They will bring a mobile wagon to display their items as well as to use for activities, have supplies on hand as well as projects for ideas, they will be here for two (2) to three hours. We may want to save this and use as a separate activity.

 

Debra is trying for Tecumseh Spotlight for the Day in The Park Festival and hopes to get a lot of free advertising.

 

OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST:

 

Debra reported that the North Shelter ceiling has been removed and will be replaced soon.

The Tennis courts were reopened after the refinishing process was completed on 05/18/09

The Girls softball tournament the past weekend went well.

 

Next Meeting to be 1-6-09 , 7:30 p.m. at the RCC
