Property appraiser II:

 

The Charter Township of Raisin is soliciting applicants for the position of Township Assessor.

General Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

This position conducts appraisals of residential and agricultural real and personal property for the Township of Raisin in the field and related data entry and analysis in the office. Field work involves visiting each parcel of the Township in accordance with the rules and regulations as set forth by the State of Michigan Tax Commission.

 

The Preferred applicant must:

  • Possess a Level II assessor certification from the State Assessors Board.
  • Have knowledge of building construction and familiarity with property tax statutes.
  • Possess the ability and willingness to provide excellent service to the constituents of the Township.
  • Applicant must be self-motivated to work independently without supervision.
  • Applicant must be a team player who accepts changes in technology.
  • The applicant’s ability to accept change with enthusiasm is a must in this ever changing business world.
  • Applicant must possess experience in preparing an assessment roll and working with the Board of Review.
  • Experience with BS&A Software is a must.
  • Experience with tax tribunal procedures and defense of appeals

 

The Charter Township of Raisin is required by law to have a level 2 assessor. The new certification requirements that go into effect with the 2012 assessment year will eliminate level 1 assessor in any case.

 

This position is a full time non-union position with wage range between $ 33,000 and $ 37,000 per year plus applicable benefits.
