Police
Department Report
December 12th, 2005
The following is a summary of activity for the
Raisin Township Police Department for the month of November.
Significant Events:
The Raisin Township Police Department investigated a
fatal accident on November 23rd 2005 on Rogers Hwy. South of Sutton
Rd. Officer Wright and Sgt. Poe were assisted by members of the County Accident
Investigators team. Our sympathy goes out to those affected by this tragedy.
Icy conditions kept all three township units busy for most of the day.
Meetings:
Chief Lambka attended the Training Consortium
meeting on November 9th at Woodstock Twp Police Department. At this
meeting the training curriculum was set for the first part of the 2006 training
year.
Chief Lambka attended a meeting with the American
Red Cross officials at Adrian City Fire Department on November 10th.
This meeting was called to explore some of the areas that the Red Cross could
better help the county public safety departments in times of need and make us
aware of the services they offer.
Training:
Chief Lambka and Sgt. Poe have begun working on new
training record documentation procedures for all training and a new curriculum
for our firearms training. This is in response to an internal audit we
conducted for compliance with our risk management’s guidelines. Other areas we
are also addressing are SOP’s, safety equipment, and required annual training
guidelines.
Traffic Enforcement Update:
Raisin Township Police Department has signed up to
participate in the 2006 OHSP traffic safety mobilization which starts with an
OWI enforcement on December 19th. This will make us eligible for
OHSP grant money for traffic enforcement.
We have ordered our new 2006 Impala traffic
enforcement cars from Berger Chevrolet. By ordering the cars prior to December
1 2005, we saved approximately $1700 per car. We expect delivery of these cars
somewhere around February 1st.
