Minutes of Planning Commission 8-12-08

Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairperson, Dale Witt.

Members present: Dale Witt, Steve McGee, Bob Utter, Jimmy Colburn, David McCrate and Cheryl Benham.

Ron Weber Absent – Un-Excused.

Agenda: McCrate motioned to accept August 12, 2008 agenda as amended, seconded by McGee. Motion carried.

Minutes: McCrate motioned to accept July 22, 2008 meeting minutes, seconded by Utter. Motion carried.

Public Comments: There were none.

Public Hearings: There were none.

Communications: MAP annual conference October 1 – 4 in Kalamazoo.

Mr. Walker, Township Attorney, contacted a member regarding the Osborn land plan. Mr. Walker is going to do a title search.

Overview of the Township Board meeting of 8-11-08. A trustee feels that the Planning Commission minutes aren’t detailed enough. He wants more information especially regarding the review of the land use plan.

It was clarified again that the Planning Commission meetings are open to the public and anyone is free to attend.

Question was asked again about Ron Weber’s position. The Supervisor stated that they are looking but there aren’t any candidates available.

Harry Hutchinson will be at the Planning Commission August 22, 2008.

September 30, 2008 will be a program about PA 33 of 2008 the new Michigan Planning Enabling Act & PA 110 of 2006 as amended by PA 12 of 2008 the Updated Michigan Zoning Enabling Act.

Rodney Nanny, an individual planning consultant, contacted the Planning Commission offering his services.

Discussion was had about the 2008 Land Use tour that some planning commission members partook in. A thank you goes to the Township for allowing the planning commission members to attend and the Township to pay for the tour.

Meeting Business: Land Use Plan Discussion – discussion was had regarding Chapter 6 of the Land Use Plan, Policy/Implementation.

Discussion was had regarding PDR / development rights.
